Turban Tying Workshop

Wrap, learn and wear a piece of Rajasthan.

The Rajasthani turban, or safa, is much more than a colourful piece of clothing. Its styles, colours and ways of tying have long been connected with Rajasthan’s different regions, communities and celebrations. The tradition of turban tying is recognised as an important part of Rajasthan’s intangible cultural heritage.

In this fun and interactive workshop, participants are introduced to the tradition of the Rajasthani turban and have the opportunity to learn how to wrap and tie one themselves, guided by members of the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band.

Each workshop can be adapted to suit the age group, group size, venue and event format.

Our hands-on workshop introduces participants to some much-loved Indian favourites, including chai, chapati, dal and egg curry. Participants can learn traditional techniques, explore spices and ingredients, and enjoy the fun of preparing food together.

We provide everything needed for the workshop, including the ingredients, cooking equipment and utensils, so participants can simply join in and enjoy the experience.
