Dressed in striking traditional Rajasthani costumes, Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band captivates audiences with a spectacular fusion of music, colour and culture. Hailing from Jaipur, India, the ensemble performs an exciting repertoire of Rajasthani folk melodies, Bollywood hits, qawwalis and vibrant brass arrangements. Having performed at leading festivals across the UK and Europe, the band delivers energetic, authentic and unforgettable performances that celebrate the spirit of Rajasthan wherever they go.
The Rajasthani turban, or safa, is much more than a colourful piece of clothing. Its styles, colours and ways of tying have long been connected with Rajasthan’s different regions, communities and celebrations. The tradition of turban tying is recognised as an important part of Rajasthan’s intangible cultural heritage.
In this fun and interactive workshop, participants are introduced to the tradition of the Rajasthani turban and have the opportunity to learn how to wrap and tie one themselves, guided by members of the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band.
